Role models offer women and girls a pathway to success. Role models inspire women and girls to imagine a diversity of future possibilities. In Strong Women, Strong Girls, women and girls learn from female role models and become role models themselves. Through Strong Women, Strong Girls, women and girls witness and come to believe in their own ability to make positive social change.

In 2010-2011, 99% of participating girls reported building strong relationships with their mentors, and 93% of girls reported an increase in their self-esteem. As on parent shared, “My daughter enjoyed the entire program, especially spending time with mentors,” one parent said, “She had a lot of self-esteem issues and has gotten over a lot of them now. The program is fantastic!”
SWSG fosters mutually empowering mentoring relationships. Mentors continue to benefit from the program as well, building valuable leadership and service skills. During the 2010-2011 program year, 100% of mentors reported an increase in their leadership skills, 92% reported an improvement to their professional aspirations, and 100% reported an increased sense of connection to a broader female community.

In a mid-year survey, 93% of partner site liaisons agreed that Strong Women, Strong Girls college women are positive mentors and role models for their girls. Each week, Strong Women, Strong Girls mentors work to create a positive environment, model teamwork, demonstrate consistent commitment and engage with girls in an age and culturally appropriate way.

An aggregation of post survey data revealed that 84% of girls, college women and professional adult women experienced increased feeling of self-esteem and self-efficacy.
