Strong Women, Strong Girls provides women and girls with a safe and structured space to practice and hone essential skills such as good communication, critical thinking and goal-setting. Building these skills early on, empowers women and girls to successfully navigate challenging situations and become future leaders in their communities.
August 2011
SWSG girls participated in physical activity for 30 minutes per day through SWSG’s Get Active! program, an initiative to improve the health and wellness skills and knowledge of participating girls, mentors, and communities. This initiative brings participating girls halfway towards their recommended daily 60 minutes of physical activity. Building on the initiative this year, SWSG has partnered with Katina Taylor to create fun fitness videos to accompany each of the SWSG “Countdown to Success Skills,” supporting girls in exercising outside of SWSG time, as well.

February 2011
An aggregate of partner site liaison and mentor mid-year surveys revealed that 90% of girls experienced an increase in social-emotional skills as a result of their participation in Strong Women, Strong Girls during the first half of program. Girls will put these skills to use this spring as they implement service projects in their communities, becoming agents for positive social change.
September 2010
An aggregation of post survey data revealed that 81% of girls, college women and professional women experienced an increase in skills.
