005 RIA As we get closer to the event, we would like to highlight each of the winners. In the Professional Woman category, we honor Dr. Ria David for her outstanding achievements with her company Cybergenetics.
In response to her honor, Dr. David states, “I am honored to be recognized by and identified with SWSG and their wonderful work of supporting young women.”
Dr. Ria David, president of Cybergenetics, is a fearless advocate for justice through better science, particularly in cases of gender-based violence, sexual assault, and the opioid epidemic. Cybergenetics focuses on a technology called TrueAllele to analyze DNA in crime cases to more accurately identify perpetrators. The company has assisted in over 500 cases.
Dr. David also created a college campaign called “Take Back the Power,” demonstrating how DNA evidence is used after sexual assault. She states, “Cybergenetics shows students that more can be done for victims of sexual assault. More can be done to solve cases, and take back the power, when DNA evidence is preserved and thoroughly interpreted.”
In 2016, Pennsylvania Governor Tom Wolf expressed his praise stating, “Dr. David has been instrumental in developing new technologies that improve forensic science, helping to prosecute the guilty and exonerate the innocent.”
