The Strong Women, Strong Girls mission statement was carefully crafted to ensure that positive social change resonated throughout our programs, resulting in cycles of mutual empowerment. Our college mentors work throughout the year to provide guidance and support to their 3-5th grade girls. They drive our mission forward and are the heart and soul of the organization.

Since research shows that professional role models raise women and girls’ career aspirations, the Mentor2Mentor program makes the cycle come full circle.  By matching our college mentors with strong professional women already in the workforce, we complete the cycle of mutual empowerment and offer our college mentors the chance to create a mentoring relationship for the program year, and often a life-long friendship!

In South Florida, we kicked off our Mentor2Mentor program with sparks on November 2, 2010. At the beginning of the evening we offered participants time to mingle in a speed-networking event. This not only gave our college women space to practice having conversations in a professional setting, but it also created an environment for women who would not  generally cross paths to come together and bond.

We will continue to generate excitement with two upcoming M2M events! The first will be taking place on December 2, 2010 and is a professional development workshop. It will be taking place at the beautiful Betsy Hotel in South Beach, Florida. The final workshop will be hosted at the Fairchild Tropical Botanic Gardens with the theme of ‘life balance.’ Stay tuned to hear more about those events.
