Celebrate the most famous heroines of all times while supporting the great work of Strong Women, Strong Girls. On March 11th, 2014 SWSG will hold a unique event in conjunction with the innovative exhibit “Wonder Women, On Page & Off” at the Toonseum.
“The exhibit is an exploration of the role of women as artists and in the workplace of the comics industry, and the way the way women have been portrayed in the art form of comics. Comics provide yet another example of the roller coaster of gender constructs that hindered women.”
SWSG is works diligently to counteract the gender constructs that hinder women. Our Pittsburgh branch currently serves over 550 girls in Allegheny County to eliminate the ambition gap for girls in 3rd, 4th, and 5th grade. We couldn’t do this work without our 150 amazing college mentors from 6 local universities. We are honored to have a hand in developing these women and girls into tomorrow’s leaders.
