Strong Women, Strong Girls  was honored at the 2011 AmeriCorps Program Disability Partnership Meeting in Orlando on October 25th, 2011.  The meeting, whose theme was Better Communities Include Everyone, recognized SWSG for it’s continuing effort to engage volunteers with disabilities throughout it’s program and awarded SWSG a $1,000 grant to continue this important work. SWSG was proud to receive this honor alongside Creative Clay of Tampa, an arts-focused supported employment program. An original award created by mixed-media artist Brenda Smoak was part of the honor.
SWSG sends a huge thank-you to AmeriCorps and Volunteer Florida for recognizing the organization’s efforts to be all-inclusive. SWSG will hold steadfast to this mission as it continues to engage girls and mentors throughout Miami-Dade County.
