For College Women

Our college women deliver our after-school program to young girls through innovative mentorship and relationship-building.

Who

SWSG College Mentors are passionate, driven young women who are committed to empowering girls. Anyone who identifies as female and is enrolled in one of our partner colleges is welcome to apply to be an SWSG mentor!

How

College Mentors work together in small groups to deliver our after-school program to young girls. Mentors run weekly, 90-minute sessions with mentees over the course of the school year. During these sessions, mentors lead the girls in learning about a strong female role model, practice important skills through hands-on activities, and discuss the challenges and realities girls face every day. Each chapter also hosts a Campus Discovery Tour, a college field trip for girls to explore areas of interest, learn about their options after high school, and dream big about their future.

At our partner colleges and universities, mentors meet as a chapter on a weekly basis to discuss lesson planning, troubleshoot challenges, and build community. Each chapter has a leadership structure designed to give college women the opportunity to take on extra responsibilities and develop their voice. Chapters also host events on campus that help build a student culture that supports women and promotes inclusion.

"I have absolutely loved my time mentoring with SWSG for the past three years. SWSG is a critical component of my college education, and has definitely been my favorite activity. It is a wonderful way to engage in the community beyond the edge of campus and to act on ideas about equality for women and girls in the world by empowering girls to see themselves as strong!"
