On behalf of the Boston Regional Board of Directors, we are excited to name Natalie Martinez as its new Executive Director and Co-President of Strong Women, Strong Girls Boston. Natalie joins SWSG with nearly two decades of experience in non-profit and academic administration working with diverse stakeholders, building new programs, and supporting organizational growth. Natalie will officially start on February 18th, 2019.
“Natalie’s professional and personal experience in Boston, paired with her amazing leadership capacity and passion for our work, makes her an excellent choice to lead SWSG Boston.” shares Elaine Stokes, SWSG Boston regional board chair. “We are confident that Natalie will enable us to empower more girls and women to realize their inner strengths to dream and do. We offer a heartfelt thanks to Dr. Jocelyn Horner, SWSG Pittsburgh Executive Director and Co-President, who has supported the Boston team during the transition.”
Prior to accepting her new role, Natalie was the Associate Director of Alumni Relations at Tufts University School of Dental Medicine. She has also worked at Boston University School of Medicine, as well as Central Boston Elder Services, Boston Day and Evening Academy and the Unitarian Universalist Association. She is delighted to begin a collaborative working relationship with Dr. Horner, and believes that their combined experience and perspectives, along with those of the dynamic staff and volunteer leadership at Strong Women, Strong Girls, will lead to even greater impact.
Natalie is working toward completing her Masters in Nonprofit Management from Northeastern University and holds a Bachelor’s in Management from Lesley University. A native of Boston, she currently resides in Brockton with her spouse, Chris, and their three daughters, Amara, Mykalah and Alexis. As a family, they love to cook and share the experience of new cuisines and culinary traditions.
“Family is the center of my life, and my greatest inspiration,” says Natalie. “As the mother of three amazing young women, I am committed to helping all women and girls realize their potential by building a culture where they can flourish. Mentors have had an enormous positive impact in my own life, and I look forward to building and expanding the mentoring networks and programs that Strong Women, Strong Girls has created. This organization has done so much excellent work, and I know there is much more that we can do, together, in the future. I feel very fortunate and excited to be part of it.”
As a multi-city organization, SWSG continues to strategically optimize our operating model across Boston and Pittsburgh, leveraging our shared resources and expertise to achieve economies of scale in service provision, promote organizational innovation and foster growth. In addition to leading our amazing team here in Boston, Natalie will work alongside Jocelyn in Pittsburgh to build greater synergy, identify new opportunities, and empower even more girls and women. With your support, they will guide us into the next chapter of Strong Women, Strong Girls.
You can meet Natalie before she starts at the Women’s Leadership Breakfast “Lift as you Climb” on February 12th at the Intercontinental Boston. Click here to register.
