National Director of Programs


Theresa Fortillus joined Strong Women, Strong Girls in 2023 as the National Director of Programs after over a decade of experience in social impact programming. Theresa is passionate about people, building community, and fostering equitable change, and she is honored to bring her expertise and enthusiasm to the SWSG community.

Theresa has had the pleasure of leading programming at organizations committed to anti-poverty, community development, philanthropy, and capacity building. She began her career at Action for Boston Community Development, Inc., where she led a team to deliver programming, emergency services, and case management to low-income individuals and families in and around Boston. She also had the opportunity to work in community-driven philanthropy as a longtime Trustee for the Grove Hall Trust,  a volunteer-led foundation in Roxbury, and as the Operations Manager at the Brookline Community Foundation. Most recently, Theresa led early career programming at the Institute for Nonprofit Practice as the National Director of Early Career Programs, where she supported emerging nonprofit leaders to advance their leadership skills.

Theresa holds a BS in Business Management, with a concentration in Nonprofit Management, from Lesley University and a certificate in Human Services and Nonprofit Management from Suffolk University. In addition to her work at SWSG, Theresa is also a member of the Advisory Council for Project Bread.
