On Saturday, January 29th, Strong Women, Strong Girls Boston kicked off the new semester with Spring Mentor Training. Held at Harvard University, 140 mentors from all five Boston colleges and 25 trainers from leading Boston nonprofit organizations came together for a full day of learning and inspiration.
Leading the day, keynote speaker Ellen Rogers, author of Kasey to the Rescue, shared her story of personal triumph and delivered a profound message about the power of mentoring. Trainers came from organizations like Jumpstart, Sociedad Latina, Girls’ LEAP, Boston Cares, the Germain Lawrence House, and Whole Foods. Throughout the day, mentors took part in workshops on Parent Engagement, Reading with a Purpose, Behavior Management, Service Projects and Community Development. Mentors ended the day feeling confident about their skills and charged to jump into Spring Semester Program.
