Brittany Whiteside served with Strong Women, Strong Girls as a mentor and as Pittsburgh University’s chapter director (2011) in Pittsburgh, PA. Her time with SWSG helped prepare Brittany for both her professional and philanthropic efforts.
Currently, Brittany is a Financial Analyst at the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC). Brittany’s experience as a SWSG mentor helped to secure her position at one of the leading nonprofit healthcare systems in the United States. She told us that she was able to refer to the skills & situations she experienced as a mentor and chapter director in her job interview.
“Strong Women, Strong Girls did so many things for me. I learned how to be more organized, manage my time, and work with other people.”
When Brittany is not crunching numbers, she is planning parties as a volunteer with PGH Party for a Purpose, a nonprofit whose mission is to host fun, creative and affordable parties for diverse young-minded individuals and nonprofit organizations in Southwestern Pennsylvania.
Brittany credits SWSG for helping her step outside of her college campus, and understand the community in which she lives. Although she is not a native to Pittsburgh, Brittany is still continuing the cycle of positive change in the city in which she first fell in love with as a mentor with SWSG.
