As a member of the SWSG Pittsburgh Advisory Council, I thought I would share with you our upcoming agenda and feature some amazing Advisory Council Members leading these efforts.
The role of the Pittsburgh Advisory Council is to offer feedback and advice on the vision and strategic plan of Strong Women, Strong Girls Pittsburgh; share the great work of the organization with various audiences; and support the work of the organization by attending events, contributing to fundraising efforts; and recruit mentors. To date, Advisory Council members have successfully chaired various celebratory and fundraising events; connected SWSG Pittsburgh to donors and mentors; and broadened the outreach efforts of the organization. It goes without saying that none of this can happen without the strong and steady support of SWSG Pittsburgh staff.
Let’s begin the introduction some of our fearless leaders with our big event. You might have participated in Jump into Spring before. It’s remarkable and part of the reason is because of the tremendous work done behind the scenes. The past co-chairs were Selena Schmidt and Beth Slagle, who were absolutely fantastic. This year, Jump into Spring will be co-chaired by Vanessa McCarthy-Johnson and Linda Williams-Moore. Both leaders have already brought great enthusiasm to the table and we are excited to follow their lead.
At the end of each program year, we celebrate the great work of our girls, mentors and staff. This year, Beth Marcello will lead the effort. Not only has she proposed that we wrap up the year in style, but to also feature a Strong Woman of the Year. More will be revealed shortly!
We realize that it is really difficult to wait until our big events to share the great work of Strong Women, Strong Girls. This year, we have committed to hosting parlor meetings throughout the year to share the wonderful work with friends and colleagues. Linda Dickerson has volunteered to lead this effort and we are absolutely grateful. She hosts amazing parties and I can only imagine what great parties she will help council members host this year.
Last but not least, due to some very wise changes to our governance model, we now have a Chair of the Advisory Council, Cynthia Cavendish-Carey. She has been a tremendous asset to SWSG and we are thankful for her leadership.
Well, here you are! I look forward to sharing more about the Pittsburgh Advisory Council in the future and I hope this excites you too!
Up close with the SWSG Pittsburgh Advisory Council
