We are thrilled to announce our new Managing Director for Boston, Shanice Douglas. Shanice has deep experience in advocacy work and brings an exciting vision to leveraging SWSG’s role in our community.
Shanice (she/her) is a Boston native, passionately working in the nonprofit sector for over 15 years. She was the Director of Prevention Programs at REACH Beyond Domestic Violence, guiding the organization’s work internally, with communities, and among individuals to change social norms and systems of oppression. As a preventionist, her focus was to cultivate trauma informed spaces for transformative conversations, amplifying support, strengthening connections, and deepening capacity on building and sustaining healthy relationships.
Prior to this position, Shanice worked for several years at Roxbury Youthworks, Inc. advocating for youth and young adults who have experienced commercial sexual exploitation. Shanice was the BUILD Program Director, serving the cisgender male, transgender, and gender expansive population. Before this promotion, she was GIFT’s Life Skills Specialist, serving the cisgender female youth and young adult population. In this role, Shanice developed an internship program to introduce and encourage goal orientation, professional development, entrepreneurship, and financial empowerment. Under her leadership, the program achieved an impressive 92% success rate.
Shanice’s dedication to her work is evident through her continuous pursuit of learning and growth. Shanice has earned a certificate in Nonprofit Social Impact Management and Leadership from the Institute of Nonprofit Practice via Tufts University’s Tisch College. Additionally, she recently earned a certificate in Nonprofit Leadership from the Latino Leadership Institute. Beyond her professional accomplishments, Shanice is actively involved in her community. Shanice sat on the Dorchester Court House Advisory Board for CSEC (Commercial Sexual Exploitation of Children) and was a valued liaison for “I Am Why”, a movement that centers young women and gender expansive activists for justice.
We look forward to her leadership as we mark our 20th Anniversary and plan for the future of SWSG!
