To our Strong Women, Strong Girls Community,

I am writing to you because my last day as a member of the Strong Women, Strong Girls staff will be this week. I am so glad that I’ll be able to participate in the Strong Awards in Pittsburgh and Miami this week to say thank you in person! I am leaving Strong Women, Strong Girls to attend business school, pursuing a full time MBA. I will remain involved with Strong Women, Strong Girls as an adviser on the Board and I am tremendously excited about this new role for me.

To ensure strong continued leadership for the organization, the Board of Directors recently named Susan Miele as Interim President. We are also so fortunate to have strong leadership from our staff team at every level.

I have also been reflecting on the tremendous progress that SWSG has made in the last 11 years, since I began the program as a student group at Harvard University. Since that time, the organization has impacted the lives of 10,000 women and girls in five communities domestically and internationally. As the impact of Strong Women, Strong Girls has grown, we have also been fortunate to have our work recognized. Most recently, Strong Women, Strong Girls has been recognized by the Clinton Global Initiative, The National Coalition for Girls Schools, the Boston Club, and the Massachusetts Nonprofit Network.

As we look to the future, I am excited about both the strong foundation that we have developed, as well as the new innovation-focused initiatives we have kicked off in the last year. In the last 12 months we have launched our Get Active! initiative, focused on getting girls active during their SWSG mentoring sessions and made free girls’ fitness videos available that are being used by program providers across the country. We’ve piloted our Strong Leaders program, engage leading professional women as leadership coaches paired with our college undergraduate leaders. Finally, we’ve developed our PoweredBy Strong Women, Strong Girls framework to allow the program to begin to fulfill the requests that we receive nearly daily to bring Strong Women, Strong Girls to new communities.

Thank you for your partnership and collaboration! I look forward to working together to continue supporting women and girls in our communities!
